Pet Strollers aren’t just for Small Pets

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

Many think that pet strollers are just for tiny, petite dogs that weigh 15 lbs or less.  This isn’t true.  While many pet strollers will only comfortably transport smaller dogs, there are strollers available for larger dogs, such as those that weigh up to 70 pounds!

For example, we at SoupedUpStrollers.com offer a couple of choices for larger dogs such as the Jeep Rubicon Jogging Pet Stroller or the
AT3 All-Terrain Pet Stroller both by Pet Gear (pictured below).

When selecting a stroller for your pet, don’t only look at your pet’s height and weight.  Consider also your pet’s personality and your needs & lifestyle.  If you jog or walk on rougher terrain, your pet stroller needs would be different than if you simply want to take your pet to the mall or shopping.

Pet Stroller Benefits:

Many times when I talk about pet strollers to others, I get strange looks from some.  But, when I start listing out the benefits of owning one for your pet, these nay-sayers often see the light and agree it’s a great idea.

Here are just some of the benefits of owning & using a pet stroller:

  • If your pet is sick, old or has a debilitating condition such as an arthritic hip, you can give him/her the enjoyment of fresh air and change of scenery by taking them for a nice walk.
  • If you have a small dog and you like to take jogs or long walks, your pet can hop into the stroller when they get tired
  • You don’t have to control your pet on a leash when they are around other people
  • Strollers add a level of comfort and provide a sense of security for your pet
  • Depending on where you travel with your pet, a pet stroller can keep them away from debris on sidewalks and keep their paws cool instead of walking on hot cement
  • For vet visits, you can keep your pet off of the ground where other sick animals would lie

While pet carriers are great for small pets, they’re not as easy or even possible to use for larger dogs.

Both offer rugged and quality that are suitable for taking either a larger pet or multiple pets on rougher terrain.
